If you have no doctrine perks it will make missions harder. Doing so means you will take more damage from enemies. You could play all missions on Normal difficulty first. Although Easy difficulty earns you “Silver” stars, these can be used to buy commander doctrine perks. Doing so will give you stars to use to buy doctrine perks. Play all missions on Easy difficulty first. You can play each campaign in the following ways: To surmise, eliminate as many enemies as you can, lose as little units as possible, and earn badges whenever possible. So you could have a mission where you disable a bunch of enemy vehicles with AT mines, then use grenades on the tank or use AT rocket infantry to “attack ground” on the vehicle - combo if you do it from behind the vehicle - earning you “tank hunter” and “backstabber” badges. Also, empty vehicles that were previously controlled by an enemy, if you destroy them, will earn “tank hunter” badges even after they are abandoned. So sometimes, it is better to destroy cannons throughout the mission than to pillage.Īdditionally, when destroying enemy tanks or AT emplacements you can try to combo the “Tank Hunter” badge and the “Backstabber” so that 1 kill earns you two badges instead of one. While, if you do not destroy the cannon and pillage it, you miss out on 1 extra unit kill towards your score. Since eliminating enemies is worth points, the infantry manning the cannon will count as units killed (2), and the cannon itself will count as an extra (1) unit - total (3) units killed. For instance, the “Tank Hunter” badge is for destroying an enemy tank, cannon, artillery, or MG nests with infantry grenades or AT-rockets, mortar units, and AT-riflemen. It also seems like certain badges are indirectly worth more points than others. Badges do not go away unless you reload your save. You only need to have a unit enter an equipment - like cannons or nest - once, they can exit once you earn a badge. So throughout a mission be on the lookout for cannons or MG nests you can take over, especially after an engagement. Again that was just a hypothetical example of how the game calculates point reduction from unit losses.Įarning Badges : earning badges like “Tank Hunter'' or “Pillager” adds points towards Stars. I have no idea if such a formula exists to calculate points, “for example killed 10 units : lost 1 unit = 1 point”. Other people playing this game have said points towards stars is based on a ratio of enemies killed: units lossed. The game doesn't reward you points for units kept alive. If you suffer casualties it will most likely mean you have to reload your save or restart the mission. During a mission you might have 2 Stars, then after an engagement you lose half your units, you’ll see your points bar now show 1 Star. Suffering Casualties: the game either reduces your score or increases the threshold to the next Star whenever you lose units, like infantry, tanks etc. In other missions you will only eliminate enemies at and towards the objectives and hit 3 Stars either at the final objective or just before. Some missions require you to eliminate every enemy on the map. Stars are used to buy Doctrine upgrades that give bonuses and abilities to your units.Įarning stars works in the following ways:Įliminating Enemies : the more enemies you eliminate in a mission the more progress you will make towards a Star. Most of the missions in a campaign, as you play a mission you’ll see the points bar progress to 3 Stars and have all 3 before finishing the mission. Other missions give you all Stars once the final objective is completed. Some missions only grant you a star once an objective is completed or you have finished half of the mission or give you the last Star once finishing the last objective. You might have a better strategy, who knows.Įach mission has a different threshold required to earn 3 Stars. So do not believe this guide to be the end-all be-all of figuring out what to do. For the most part playing on Challenge mode would be the same as playing on Normal difficulty.Īs a disclaimer this guide I am only writing based on how I play / how I played a mission, obviously. Additionally, this guide is written for achieving 3 Star scores on missions, while sometimes I clarify differences for Challenge modes. Feel free to skip around the guide to the missions you really need help with. Still, I go into detail for missions even if the mission itself is easy. But if you haven’t and have little to no perks unlocked, this guide will still work. This guide/walkthrough assumes you have already played the missions on Easy because I suggest using certain equipment that are locked behind doctrine perks.
